Danessa Myricks built her makeup line from an artist’s eye for color and skin

Danessa Myricks is a self-taught makeup artist, photographer, educator, and founder and CEO of Danessa Myricks Beauty. Her path to makeup began after work in the medical field and beauty publishing, then years of study and practice.

Before her own line, Myricks developed foundations, powders and lashes for KISS, then led product innovation for Benefit Cosmetics complexion and brow lines. Her experience testing makeup across skin tones informs a range built for experimentation, from Yummy Skin complexion to Colorfix pigments and the Lightwork palettes.

What makes Danessa Myricks Beauty a line for play

Danessa Myricks Beauty centers inclusive, multifunctional makeup for different skin tones and more than one use. Colorfix, Vision Flush and the Yummy Skin base formulas are the clearest expression of that approach.

For fall and winter, Lightwork VIII feels especially apt: it has 18 shades and seven finishes, moving from wearable textures to reflective chrome. Myricks continues to teach through DMB University, and her brand has earned more than 100 accolades, including nine Allure Best of Beauty awards, a place on Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list, and two appearances on WWD's Most Powerful Beauty Brands list.

Where I would start with Danessa Myricks Beauty

Start with the Yummy Skin base product that fits your routine, then move to Lightwork VIII when you want a full chromatic eye. Myricks builds formulas for real use, with room to move between a simple base and high-impact color. That is the entry point I would actually use.
